At SF was a merge request.

I was way too curious "works that 'merge' button for me?",
so I clicked on it ...

Oh,
Post by Geert Stappers
I was way too curious
that complicates further sync attempts, especially since it actually
touches one same file as a previous SVN commit.

I'd liked to have my research on syncing done before that happened...
Post by Geert Stappers
What about switching from 'subversion' to 'git'?
But, reality check, I'm probably the only one who still likes SVN
better. At least if I count the comments in the previous few mails,
where about 5 people more or less voted for git...

Ok,

so let's manually "sync" (redo) the last few extra commits from SVN and
finally switch over to primarily using git (but still at SourceForge,
for now).

I'll see if the access rights to SVN can be lowered so that it is still
available (at its current revision) for existing scripts that fetch it
from SVN but not writable.

Last chance for any objections, anyone??

Regards,
Kolja

Hello!
None. No objections.
I have yet to see the workflow for Pull Requests using Sourceforge,
but everybody now is using Github, so I presume you want to to switch
to GIT while staying on Sourceforge, where the minority is.

I would definitely object to staying on Sourceforge, for many reasons,
the first one being advertisement.

"In July 2005, after several failed attempts to legalise software
patents in Europe, the patent establishment changed its strategy.
Instead of explicitly seeking to sanction the patentability of
software, they are now seeking to create a central European patent
court, which would establish and enforce patentability rules in their
favor, without any possibility of correction by competing courts or
democratically elected legislators."

Hi,
I presume you want to to switch to GIT while staying on Sourceforge, where the minority is.
Yes, *for now*, because at the moment I'd like to spend time on code &
release, rather than work on migrating version and issue control content
etc. to another hoster. I can spend only a few hours per week.

If you give high priority to moving to another hoster, and share my
opinion that some history should be included (ie. tickets and commits)
in the move to do it proper, okay, you're welcome to help with that now.
I would definitely object to staying on Sourceforge, for many reasons,
I agree a move is reasonable but please give me and the discussion about
it some time before, and/or opt in to do all that work.

I've asked github support about the existing empty "UrJTAG" org (no
answer yet). Hm, maybe someone here on the list is related or knows
someone who is or..?

Regards,
Kolja

Such information would indeed be welcome.

Hello :-) I am also FreeBSD and UrJTAG user for years, created OpenOCD
port for FreeBSD, developed LibSWD on SF and then moved to GitHub,
moving to GitHub seems reasonable, it really makes contribution and
code management easy! :-)
